Illex Squid (Illex Argentinus) also known as Argentine Shortfin Squid and belongs to the family Ommastrephidae. They are usually found in South Western Atlantic Ocean and can be found upto depths of 2500 feet. The weights of Illex Squid as per commercial fisheries can range from under 100 to over 700 grams, however, the average weights caught by the fishery ranges from 100 to 500 grams. Illex Squid has mild and sweet taste and firm and meaty texture.
