Chilean Seabass (Dissostichus Eleginoides) also known as Patagonian toothfish, Mero, Icefish and Antarctic Cod. Two of the most common names it goes by are Chilean seabass and Patagonian toothfish. It is a deep water species caught in southern ocean waters near and around Antarctica. The average weight of Chilean seabass or Patagonian toothfish can range from 15-20 lbs and some adults can grow above 100 lbs. It has high fat content, it’s flavor is rich and moist with large tender flakes.
